Obituary

Michael Gene Rash, who passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2024, was a kind, generous, hardworking, devoted family man who loved with an open heart. Who better to describe him than Traynee Rash, who had been the love of his life of 45 years. The two rode the bus together in their youth, fell in love, and would have been married for 39 years on June 7th. They built a beautiful life together, filled with love, adventure, and laughter.

Born on October 5th, 1960, in Newport, Arkansas, family values were instilled early in his life as Mike was the youngest of nine children from his
parents, Lonzo George Rash and Viola Pearl Odom Rash.

He is survived by H.T. Allen, Harold "Skeet" Rash, Billy Rash, Betty Sue Moore, Mary Alice Netzley, and his two sisters-in-laws, Doris Atchley and Audrey Rash. His three brothers, H.D. Allen, Steven Wayne Atchley, George "Tad" Rash, and his parents are waiting for him in Heaven.

Mike graduated from Newport High School and Arkansas State University as an Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity member, gaining many lifelong
friendships. He and Traynee moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where he worked for Arkla Gas in plant accounting for 20 years before working for LSUHS in the budget department for another 23 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mike loved and believed in Jesus. He had a sharp analytical mind, a quick wit, and was truly a good person. He never said a cross word about anyone. He loved to work in the yard, go camping, and work in his shop on various projects- all skills he has passed on to his boys.

The thing Mike loved most in this world was his family. He was the proud father of Tyler and Logan Rash. He loved the boys with his whole heart. He was incredibly proud of the men they have become. He loved his dog, Lucky, who passed only 3 short days before Mike. Mike's family believes the two are cuddled up in Heaven right about now. Mike loved and accepted his daughters-in-law, Kallie and Allison, into the family as his own. He and Traynee truly had the type of love we all wish for. She was by his side every day since age 16, with a smile on her face and laughter in her heart. Mike will be missed dearly by all around him; his family and friends find solace in knowing he is in a better place, probably making the angels laugh.

A service will be held to honor Mike on Saturday, June 8th, at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8895 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71115.
