Obituary

Michael Britton Beason Sr, MD

May 16, 1954- September 22, 2023

SHREVEPORT, LA- Michael was born on May 16, 1954, in Shreveport, LA. He passed away at his home in Shreveport surrounded by family and listening to his favorite music on September 22, 2023.

Dr. Micheal Beason has had over 43 years of experience in the field of medicine. He graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences School of Medicine in 1980. He then had his residency specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology which he finished in 1984. After that he proceeded to practice medicine in Ardmore, OK until he returned to his hometown of Shreveport, LA and pivoted his career by returning to LSU Health Sciences School of Medicine to continue his education in Psychiatry. Once he completed his residency, he became an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at LSU Health Sciences School of Medicine and practiced Telehealth services to children that were in the state Foster Care System until his retirement in 2018. The impact on his patients is insurmountable to say the least, but he was able to craft a successful career that impacted countless amounts of lives.

Out of all his titles, his most revered was Dad and "Papaw".

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Rita Evonne "Kitty" Beason, his Father Murce Britton Beason, His brother Danny Almond Beason and beloved grandmother- Hazel Key (Mama Key).

Michael is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Deborah J. Beason of Shreveport Louisiana; His brother, Randy Beason (Brooke Beason), and sister Paula Kay Beason. His Children; Michael Britton Beason Jr, Stephanie Phillips (Josh Phillips), Jennifer Beason, Christopher Gray (Gwen Gray) and Shelly Diehl (Tim Diehl). Grandchildren: Avery Phillips, Jude Phillips, Maddie Gray, Jesse Gray, Cassidy Mullins (Tucker Mullins), Krysta Diehl-Craig (Mitchell Craig). As well as his beloved Aunt Patsy and Uncle Angelo Piazza and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Michael enjoyed luxury cars, ordering gadgets from "Sharper Image", playing with his beloved dog Max and watching the boats from his backyard on Cross Lake. He also loved listening to classic rock music like "The Eagles" and Stevie Ray Vaughn (to say the least). He was a multi-faceted man that was good with his words and very artistic. But to ask him what he loved the most, he would always say his children and grandchildren.  To sum up, his life was difficult, but we can say that we will remember his impact on all of us. He was very loved, and we will miss him dearly.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Superior Hospice and Mrs. Rose who would come and pray over him and our family daily. She also assisted us with his end-of-life care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to one of Dr. Beason's favorite charities, Shriners Children's Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
