Obituary

Michael Henry Baker, age 68, passed away on April 20, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born January 30, 1952, in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England to Fred and Betty Baker. He was a musician, photographer, and had a talent for cooking (especially Belgium waffles). He spent the early years of his life learning to play several instruments. His love of music led him to his first career as a bassist for the bands Nimbus and Peoke Orange. His love of music afforded him the opportunity to travel to exotic places such as Hong Kong and Morocco. Soon followed was his passion of photography.

He enjoyed a full life with amazing stories that included meeting several famous musicians. He also served as inspiration to Isaac Asimov as a character in a few short stories, as well as appeared on covers of some of his magazines.

In 1986, he packed his family up and moved to the states with his wife, daughter, and favorite sheep dog, Dudley. While in the states he practiced photography and worked at local photography stores such as Par Excellence and as the photo lab manager at DEE's Photo. These jobs blessed him with the opportunity to make several life long friends.

He enjoyed quality time at the Shreveport Yacht club. His enjoyment of the yacht club and care for the members led him to serve as Commodore in 2009.

Henry was a loving father, grandad and spouse. He is survived by his wife Teddye and only daughter Amanda, her husband Corey and three grandchildren London, Kyler, and Madilynn. He leaves behind two sisters Angela and her husband Bob Goate; and Wendy and her husband Mick Lucey; two nieces Emma and Laura and one nephew Danny.

Memorial service will be held in the near future at which time Henry's wife and daughter would enjoy his friends in the states gather together to share stories and laughter. Following stateside remembrance he will return home to England.
