Granny was born to Melvin and Edith Zea in Centralia,Illinois and was raised in Champaign, married her childhood sweet heart Harold McGrath in 1944, at the age of 20. They first son Gordon was born November 1947, Their second son Greg was born 1953, their favorite daughter (only one ha ha!) was born in 1958. They raised their children in Champaign, Illinois. Throughout her lifetime they owned businesses, McGrath's Auto Body Shop, Snelling & Snelling, McGrath's Auto Sales. Granny was an avid sports person, she bowled in leagues, played tennis, and raquetball, skied and camped and boated. She sold cars at McGrath's Auto Sales. She moved south in 1987 to be with their daughter Melvaline, and her two new grandchildren. She worked for 15 years with her daughter at Baby Beds & Fancy Threads. When Baby Beds & Fancy Threads closed, she went to work full time for John Roden at Chick-Fil-A on Youree Drive. She felt she had too much time on her hands and picked up a spare job at Olive Garden for working nights as the front door hostess. She remained working till Septemeber 2007 at the age of 83. She lived a wonderful blessed life with family and friends. She touched everyone she every met in a very special way. Her smile and positive outlook will be missed by many. She remained positive till her last day on earth.
