Obituary

Melissa Price Martinez passed away Sunday, September 23rd, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends after a lengthy battle with cancer. Melissa was born January 23rd, 1970, to Michael and Mary Price in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating from Kingston Christian Academy she went on to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Sociology from LSUS, and later a Masters in Psychology from University of The Rockies. On January 6th, 1996, she married the love of her life Eduardo Martinez. With him she would raise three children, Krystle, Kansas, and Kannon.

Anyone who knew Melissa would agree that she was one of the most beautiful souls on this earth. She was a shining example of a true Christian: never judging, always loving. Melissa loved all things involving LSU, England, and History; something she instilled into her daughter. You could often find her reading historical fiction or watching episodes of Dr. Who. However, more than anything, Melissa loved her family. From cookouts, to beach trips, to football games, Melissa always made it a point to be around her loved ones. This often meant playing Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart with her boys every chance she got, always picking Princess Peach and Koopa Troopa.

Melissa is preceded in death by her little brother Stevie, Aunt Betty Hodge Price, grandparents Naomi and Cornelius Price, Hazel Hodge, and several other friends and family. She leaves behind her parents Michael and Mary Price, husband Eduardo Martinez, daughter, Krystle Smith and husband Tyler, two sons Kansas and Kannon, her brother Russell Price, wife Jeri, and daughter Joanna. Her mother and father-in-law Eduardo and Mercedes Martinez, brother-in-law Carlos Martinez, wife Danirsa, and children: Carlos, Daniel, and Ashley, and brother-in-law Alexander Martinez and wife Maria. She also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large collection of life long friends.

An open casket viewing will be available to anyone wishing to tell Melissa "see you later" on September 26th, 2018, at the Shreveport Pentecostals from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A memorial service will follow immediately after.
