Obituary

Calgary, Alberta - Melissa Gail Leach Laforest "Butterfly", 37, was born on January 29, 1976 and entered into God's loving arms on January 19, 2014. After graduating from North Desoto High School in 1994, she went on to pursue her dream of being a professional hairdresser. She loved her job as a hairdresser. She took such great pride in making her clients look their best, and taught many others "her" art of hair. Melissa could brighten a room brighter than sunshine when she entered bringing laughter and smiles to all. Her personality and love for others was like no other and left us all coming back for more. She loved and valued family togetherness and fishing for hours on end. She made many friends along her journey in life and dearly cherished them all. After moving to Canada 5 years ago, she remained in close touch with her many friends. Her two children, Kade Sabastian Laforest, age 3 and Geana Clare Laforest "GeGe", age 11 months, were what her world revolved around. Kade and GeGe held a very special place in her heart, the twinkle in her eyes and the bounce in her every step. Melissa is survived by her father, John Thomas Leach Sr., her mother Deborah Campbell (her best friend), her brother, John Thomas Leach Jr, her husband Jean Laforest and her children Kade Sabastian Laforest and Geana "GeGe" Laforest of Canada. Melissa is preceded in death by her grandmother, Lanell Howell, Gene "Pops" Campbell, and Aunt Bobbie Hall. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 2:00-7:00 pm at Aulds Funeral Home located at 7849 East Kings Hwy, Shreveport, La. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 (on her birthday) at 11:00 am at Life Church, located at 2222 Meriwether Rd in Shreveport, La. Officiators will be Pastor Scott Holmes and Carolyn "CC" Canady (her Aunt). Melissa will be laid to rest in Forest Park West. The family would like to thank the out pouring of love shown by her many friends. A very special "Thank You" to Sharon Festervan for all your love, help and assistance. Melissa's smiling face will be missed, but never forgotten in our hearts. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was the out. Pallbearers are: Joseph Leach, Jerry Canady, Sam Canady, Keith Festervan, Hunter Festervan, and Chad Hall.
