IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melinda
Fortune
February 7, 1950 – September 5, 2025
Melinda Fortune, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 75 after a sudden and brief illness. She was born on February 7, 1950, in Longview, Texas, to Forrest Porter "Chubby" Grigg and Tommie Jean Whittington Grigg.
Melinda lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and service to others. She loved volunteering her time at Spring Lake Nursing Home, which she often called her "found family." There, she not only offered comfort, companionship, and a helping hand to so many, but also lovingly helped take care of her dear friend, Kevin Rambin. Her caring nature extended far beyond—Melinda was always willing to assist her neighbors, friends, or anyone in need, never hesitating to put others before herself.
She enjoyed a long career with Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway law firm, from which she retired after years of dedicated service. Her professionalism, reliability, and warmth earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Forrest Michael Grigg; and her sister, Melissa Reynolds.
Melinda's legacy is one of compassion and selflessness. She will be remembered for her giving spirit, her gentle heart, and the countless lives she touched through her acts of kindness. Melinda will be laid to rest in Ore City, Texas with her family.
In lieu of a service, the family requests donations be made to the Louisiana Association of the Blind or to Spring Lake Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
