Mattie Lou Bible went home to be with her Lord on November 11, 2023. She was 94 and passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a brief illness.

She was a missionary in Brazil for 40 years and also served as president and teacher at Minas Gerais Baptist Theological Seminary. While in Brazil, she worked extensively with college students. After retiring, she began a Bible study at her apartment complex and also served as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Shreveport.

She was born in Haughton, Louisiana, to Libeus and Jewel Bible on March 23, 1929.

She is survived by her sister, Nell Copes, and many nieces and nephews. Waiting for her in heaven are her father and mother, her sisters, Marie Dragland, Marteal Jones, Dorothy Ambrose, her brother Bill Bible, and many close friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Abdehou and the staff at Montclair Chateaus for the wonderful care she received while there. The memorial service for Mattie Lou will be on November 24, 2023, at First Baptist Church Shreveport at 1:00 pm in Frost Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
