Obituary

Mary Alice Rains Hilton

December 3, 1938 – January 8, 2025

Mary Alice (Rains) Hilton, 86, of Shreveport, LA, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, in Shreveport, LA, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on December 3, 1938, to proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Houston "Hoot" Rains, in Many, La., Mary lived a life of kindness, joy, adventure, and service to others.

A dedicated LPN and former flight attendant, Mary had an innate ability to bring care and compassion to all she encountered. Her career as a LPN allowed her to provide comfort and healing. At the same time, her time as a flight attendant earlier in life fulfilled her adventurous spirit, allowing her to explore the world and connect with people from all walks of life, one of whom was her future husband, Lee Hilton III, who was a flight engineer with the same American Flyers Airline. Mary and Lee were married in December 1965 in the Little White Chapel of Las Vegas, NV., and raised four beautiful children together, one of whom passed away at age 4.  Mary also enjoyed modeling in her younger years and has quite an extensive portfolio of stunning portraits.

Mary will be remembered for her warm smile, boundless generosity, sense of adventure, and love for her family and friends. She had a pure heart of gold for expressing her love for all children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She had a special connection with dogs as they were drawn to her beautiful spirit.  She loved a good, adventurous road trip, making memories with family.  Mary enjoyed listening to and dancing to the local music scene, especially music played at the Louisiana Hayride by her Dad, Hoot Rains, in the 1950s.  She enjoyed sunsets at Cross Lake, the occasional hike, and the occasional trail ride on horseback.  Her presence brought joy and encapsulated love to everyone around her, which left an imprint on every soul she met.

She is survived by two loving sons, Wade Thomas Ozment of Shreveport, LA, "Robin" Lee Holmes Hilton IV, and (Debbie) of Shreveport, a loving daughter, Alice Daelene Hilton McComic and (Brandon) of Haughton, LA., and her loving "Baby" Sister Gail Rains Walton and (Rodney) of Bossier City, LA.

Her cherished grandchildren also survive her:  Jared Lee Hilton and (Astrid), Yazzy Collier and (Bryan), Amanda Hollowell and (Tyler), David Hollowell and (Brittany), James Horne and ( Kristen), Sarah McComic and Tyler McComic; great-grandchildren: Caden, Brooklynn, Sidney, Lilith, Scarlett, Juliette, Brylee, Emilia, Armalee, Dayana and two nephews, Jason and (Cassie) Walton, and Chad Walton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Holmes Hilton III, her sweet baby boy, Jostlyn Thomas Hilton (age 4), her loving parents, Hoot and  Armalee "Babe" Rains, and three precious baby brothers.

May her love of Jesus, passion for life, adventurous spirit, and caring heart continue to inspire and live on in all who knew her.

A celebration memorial of Mary's life will be @ The Simple Church at the Louisiana Boardwalk, where family and friends can honor her memory and share the legacy of love she leaves behind.
