Merry Nell Fratello Miller, of Shreveport, LA, passed away on April 16th, 2026 at her home.

Born on January 9th, 1942 in New Orleans, LA to Mary Louise Vanatta Fratello and Julian Bernard Fratello lived a life filled with service to her church. She graduated from McDonough High School in New Orleans and married Jim in August of 1960. They moved to Shreveport in 1968 where she remained until her death.

Merry Nell was an avid bridge and canasta player and loved her card groups. If you called her during card time, she would have to call you back when she was done. Jim and Merry Nell also gave their hearts and home to foster children throughout the years. She was a very active member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church, Christ UMC, and Ellerbe Road Methodist Church and served as the president of the women’s organizations. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, she said as a Christian and as a person that if asked to do something, it would get done.

Merry Nell is survived by her brother Paul Fratello, sister-in-law Lynda Fratello, daughter Bonnie Miller Abadie, son-in-law David Abadie, her son Joel Miller, and her grandkids – Preston Abadie, Quentin Abadie, Julian Miller, and Lauren Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Miller, her parents, her sister Margaret Fratello Airhart, and her daughter-in-law Laurie Leonard Miller.

A memorial service will be held on June 7th, 2026 at 3pm at Ellerbe Rd Methodist Church, 10130 Ellerbe Church Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
