IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marsha Joann
Rowell
November 13, 1937 – July 13, 2025
Marsha JoAnn Parker Rowell, age 87, of Keithville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Born on November 13, 1937, in Sikes, Louisiana, JoAnn's life was a reflection of grace, loyalty, and love—an enduring presence in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing her.
She was the cherished daughter of Reverend Essie Parker and Gracie Lorena Willis Parker, who instilled in her a deep love for family and a strong moral foundation that shaped the incredible woman she became.
JoAnn was the beloved wife of the late J.E. Rowell, who preceded her in death by two years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and family traditions that will be cherished for generations.
She is survived by her son Mitchell Wayne Rowell and his wife Sue, and her daughter Debra Kay Morris, whose husband, Charles "Buster" Morris, passed during the COVID epidemic. JoAnn was a proud grandmother to Jeannie McCurry and husband Randy, and to Marty McGuffie, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also lovingly embraced her step-grandchildren Jan Charlotte Morton and Christy Burkhalter, and held them close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her step-grandson Scott Free, whom she loved dearly.
JoAnn remained deeply connected to her siblings: her loving sisters Reba Berry (Jerry Berry) and Rita Crotwell (Robert Crotwell), and brothers Micky Parker (Beth) and Roger Parker. She was preceded in death by her cherished sister, Alice Baker.
A devoted nanny to a local family, JoAnn brought comfort, joy, and steadiness into their home—and was adored in return. She gave her love freely and found fulfillment in nurturing others, both within and beyond her family.
She cherished time spent hunting with family at their deer camp, and returned often to her mother's home in Sikes, filling those visits with stories, meals, and meaningful moments. Her pride in her family was immeasurable, and her deep love for each one of them never wavered.
JoAnn will be remembered for her radiant smile, her quiet strength, and the grace with which she touched so many lives. Her legacy lives on in every person who was lucky enough to be loved by her.
A memorial service, with Rev. Melvin Fletcher officiating, will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71115.
