It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Marilyn Diane Barton Wallis, age 66, on August 17, 2024. Born on October 25, 1957, in Beaumont, Texas, Marilyn spent her formative years in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she graduated from Fair Park High School in 1975.
Marilyn enjoyed a fulfilling career, culminating in her retirement from ArkLaTex Underwriters in 2019. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and clients alike. The family would like to thank Mike Gulley for the gracious support he provided.
Above all, Marilyn's greatest love was her family. She cherished her son, William Watson, with all her heart, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with him. Marilyn also found peace and happiness in her beloved "love garden," where she spent countless hours nurturing the plants and flowers that brightened her days.
Marilyn was known for her selflessness, always going out of her way to give to others before herself. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives.
She is survived by her son, William Watson, and her soulmate, Gary Watson, who was the love of her life. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion. Also survived by her mother, Mary Brock, and sister, Carolyn Lipscomb, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is proceeded in death by her father, Eldon Ray Barton, sister, Mary Davenport.
Marilyn's kindness, strength, and love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
There will be visitation and a rosary at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass, held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. located at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church 4736 Lyba St., Shreveport, Louisiana 71109.
