Marijan Elizabeth Word, 68, of Shreveport, LA, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026 at Town & Country Nursing Home in Minden, LA.
Jan was born on March 29, 1957 in Shreveport, LA to J.L. (Jake) and Violette Word. She attended Louisiana Tech and worked for AT&T for 37 years. She was a member and former director of the Shreveport Duplicate Bridge Association. Jan is survived by brother, Mike Word and wife, Nancy of Springhill, LA, nephews, Tony Stampley and wife Melissa of Springhill, LA, Tim Stampley of Nashville, TN, Blake Nations and wife, Tracy of Haughton, LA, nieces, Terri Jo Stampley of Springhill, LA, Allison Maxwell and husband, Joe of New Orleans, LA, brother in law, Joe Stampley of Nashville, TN, and best friend, Kim Gillespie. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Jo Ann Word Stampley. A celebration of life will be held at later date and time to be determined.
