IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Ann
Springer
June 6, 1952 – March 7, 2023
After a tenacious battle with dementia, Margaret Ann Springer of Shreveport, LA, was called home on March 7, 2023.
Ann was born on June 6, 1952 in Whitney, Texas to Joseph and Margaret (Baldridge) Springer. She attended Sheriden (AR) High School and the University of New Orleans, before moving to Shreveport to complete her doctorate at the LSU Health Sciences Center. In Shreveport, she earned her MD, and met her husband of 11 years, Mark McCrocklin.
She was a fiercely compassionate pediatrician, specializing in neonatal intensive care and child abuse medicine across various Shreveport hospitals. She spent time as a pediatrician for the CARA Center; worked with CASA and The Gingerbread House in Shreveport; and served as an expert witness, advocating for children's well-being in court.
Ann's passion was people, and she made a positive impact on everyone she cared about. She was also an avid creator, lauded for her knitting prowess, musical talent, and cheesecake recipe.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her sister, Marsha Jo "Jody" Springer and family, of Rio Rancho, NM; and her daughter, Grace McCrocklin Morisseau (Will) of Savannah, GA.
The immediate family wishes to thank Ann's loving caregivers at the Chateaus at Montclair and Gentiva Hospice in Shreveport; and her physician Dr. David Abdehou. To allow friends and family to make travel arrangements, a celebration of Ann's life is planned for later this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Christus Schumpert CARA Center -- by check to 1700 Buckner St # 100, Shreveport, LA 71101; or digitally by selecting "Cara Center in memory of Dr. Ann Springer" at https://christusfoundationshreveportbossier.org/give/tributes/ .
