On December 14,2023 following a long-term illness with Dementia. Ms. Malissa Ann Staton (Lovingly known as Lissy Ann) departed this life peacefully with family at her side. Malissa was born April 1, 1943 in Florence, Alabama. She was the 10TH of 11 Children born to the late Dan and Martha Houston. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined Mt Moriah Baptist Church where she served in the church choir. She was married for 22 years to Retired TSgt Charlie A. Staton. This union brought forth her two children Bryant and Yvonne. She loved to garden, cook, and take care of those in need. She lived out the remainder of her life in Bossier City, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by one daughter Tina Staton, her beloved pet midnight, her siblings Dan Jr, Wylodean, Madge Alcene, Anna Mae, Robert Frank (Polly), Edmonia (Robert), Albert Lee, John Thomas (Betty), and Martha.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her loving children Bryant (Jackie) & Yvonne. Her four grandchildren Phillip, Phallon, Jasqueline, and Jozsaline. Her sister Mary K. Hawkins, sister in law Liz Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her longtime friends Hazel Whitman, Clara Moore, and Alice West.
