Obituary

We are honored to celebrate the life of Lynda Sue Herzog-Pope. She is a beloved mother and grandmother with so many dear friends and family.

Lynda was born on Christmas Day 1941, in Ohio. However, she would rather celebrate her birthday on June 25th because she always felt cheated.  Christmas was her favorite time of year.

Mom was known by several names, Lynda, Sue, Rose, and Mom.  She was always the brightest, funniest, and most fabulous person at any gathering.  She truly lit up a room when she arrived, always late of course.  All eyes went to her for her beauty and her fashion.

Lynda graduated from Springfield High School South in Springfield, Ohio. She married Ernest Hall in 1961 and had one son, Samuel S. Hall.  After divorcing, she remarried John Herzog and moved to Bossier City, Louisiana in 1972.  This is where she attended Pat Goins Beauty School and later became an instructor for them.  She went on to open several beauty salons at several different locations.  She was a proud winner of the Hair America Award.  She later married Lewis Ray Pope and settled in Haughton, Louisiana for the last 24 years.

Lynda enjoyed several things in life besides the beauty and fashion industry. She loved to dance, sing, and was very good at the piano.  She was always one who loved to dress up for any occasion. Halloween in a formal, she looked great.

Lynda had several cats in her lifetime, but none could hold a candle to Zeus, who she took in 3 to 4 years ago. He was her BFF.  Zeus and Lynda had regular naps and a daily plan.  He sometimes helped her type on the keyboard.  She loved her Zeus.  Nothing but the best for her beloved Zeus, she even had fine China for him to eat from.

Lynda was a part of the Red Hat Society and was crowned Queen Mother of her group, The Haughton Heifers.  She held the title for quite sometime until her health declined and she had to give up the crown but she always loved being a part of that group.  She remodeled her home from floors to appliances and never got to enjoy it before having to move to Azalea Assisted Living.  She loved Lorrie and the whole staff there.

Lynda loved her doctors, even bragging on them but if she was upset she let them know it.  She was never short on words. She was the best at story telling because her attention to details was never lacking.  Anyone who knew her knows to give full details, down to what color socks they were wearing.

With all of her medical issues and with having all the Covid vaccinations, she got Covid anyway on March 14, 2023, and went to Willis Knighton Pierremont ICU.  She fought a tough fight and came out of it and then moved to Cornerstone ICU.  She was free of Covid on April 4th.  She had asked for ice cream, so Sam fed her chocolate ice cream.  She said, "God is good; its good to be alive!".  Lynda was in the hospital when her husband, Lewis, passed away and never got to finalize everything that came with his passing.

Lynda went to join Jesus on April 16, 2023.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her living husband Lewis Ray Pope; parents Reverend Randolph and Nellie Graham; brothers George P. Graham and John W. Graham; sister Nancy Graham Burns.

She is survived by her son, Samuel Scott Hall and his wife, Cecilia; two grandsons, Luke and Levi Hall; two sisters, Janet (Hansel) Rhodes of Florida and Marsha Heim (Deborah Withrow) of Ohio; three nephews, Christopher Stiffler (Lyndsi Maxwell), Michael Stiffler (Ashley Stiffler) and Steve Graham (Danielle Graham); two nieces Tyna Baugess, Tiffany Rhodes.
