It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, whose warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love shaped generations of our family. On February 23, 2026 after listening to Elvis Presley’s song "You'll Never Walk Alone" Mrs. Lucy Mae Franks closed her eyes and went peacefully to be with the Lord.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm and funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11 am both at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71115. Graveside services will follow at Social Springs Cemetery in Hall Summit, Louisiana. Services will be officiated by Pastor Willis Martin.
Mrs. Franks was born February 19, 1935 in Shreveport, LA. She served 20 years as a daycare teacher at Ford Park Baptist Church. Lucy loved watching her favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints and also listening to the timeless songs of Elvis Presley. Whether it was “Can’t Help Falling in Love” playing softly in the background or a lively rendition of “Jailhouse Rock” filling the room, she knew every lyric and sang along with a sparkle in her eye. Elvis’s music brought her comfort, memories, and often a little dancing in the living room. Those melodies will forever remind us of her laughter and light.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, John W. Brakefield and Worldon "Sonny" Franks as well as her son Johnny Ray Brakefield and her parents Lula Cain, Clarence Elliott and her grandparents Marty and Lucy Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Rhonda Brakefield, Eric Brakefield (and wife Elaine), and Michelle Trejo (and husband Jose); her grandchildren Colette Fitzgerald, Rachel McCain, Traci Taubert, Heather Brakefield, Chelsie Ratcliffe, Fernando Trejo, and Natalie Trejo; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Brakefield, Adrian Taubert, Fernando Trejo, Jose Trejo, Waylon Ratcliffe, and Dale Pantalion. Lucy was very loved and will be greatly missed. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing she lived fully and loved deeply.
