KEITHVILLE- Lodie Oleta Williams Tapp, 95 passed away unexpectedly Nov. 17, 2021 at Ochsner LSU Health. She was born March 10, 1926, in Shelbyville Texas. She was the daughter of Thomas Jackson Williams and Lodie (Blackstock) Williams.
Oleta graduated from Nachogdoches High School, Class of 1944. Following high school she worked in a shipyard during WWII. After the war she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana and attended cosmetology school. Around the same time she met her husband Raymond L. Tapp. They married on Nov.1,1947. She and Ray were married 48 years when he preceded her in death in1995. After raising their daughters, she worked as manager of Moda Casa Beauty Salon in Shreveport.
She was a long time member of Community Bible Church of Keithville. She loved to garden and take care of her yard. She was also an excellent cook and seamstress. In her young adult years she enjoyed bowling.
Oleta dearly loved her family and friends. She was known for her independent and strong spirit, as well as her grit. She hated snakes and would dispose of them with her garden hoe while even into her 90's.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister LaMurle Murphy and brothers Elon and Earl Williams. Surviving are her daughters Raleta (George) Christian, of Shreveport, La.; Debra (Larry) KItson of Oconto Falls, Wi., 5 grandchildren; Timothy, Tira, Travis, Bryan and Sheana; 10 great grandchildren, her sister Edna (Frank)Solis of Gulf Port, Ms., and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at Forest Park East Cemetery on Nov. 23, 2021, with Rev. Billy C. Sutton Jr. officiating.
