Obituary

Lloyd F. Boley departed his earthly life on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Christus Highland Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana while surrounded by family and friends at his bedside.

Lloyd was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Frank and Pearl Boley on October 25, 1932. He graduated from Bono High School as president of his class in 1952. Later that year, he enlisted in the Air Force.

In the summer of 1956, while in Jonesboro on leave from Travis AFB, he met and fell madly in love with Ann Pharis. Within months, he flew Ann to California where they married on September 9, 1956. They had been married for 64 years when Ann passed away in 2020. During their years in the Air Force, Lloyd and Ann were stationed at Travis AFB in California, Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico, Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota, Blytheville AFB in Arkansas, and Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. Lloyd would proudly tell folks he had been a tail gunner on the B-52 during his years in the Air Force. He retired as a SMSGT in 1975 after 25 years of service.

Following his retirement Lloyd worked for G Investment Company, a business he later purchased and operated until 2002.

Lloyd was a lifetime member of the disabled Veterans of America, Louisiana Chapter 30 in Shreveport. He served that organization in various roles, including chapter Commander. He particularly enjoyed his time at Veteran's Bingo Hall, an enterprise later renamed, at Lloyd's suggestion, Double Eagle Bingo Hall.

In recent years, Lloyd attended Whitehall United Methodist Church in Claiborne Parish where he endeared himself to the members.

Preceding Lloyd in death were his parents, brother Frank Boley, wife Ann Boley, and son-in-law Gary Harper.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter Lorie Harper of Haynesville, LA, son Fred Boley (Carolyn), of Shreveport, LA, sister Jean Noell of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and brother John Boley, of Eufala, Alabama. Lloyd's granddaughters are Katie Miles (Brandon) and Shelby Harper, of Haynesville, LA; and Lauren Boley and Caroline Calhoun (Logan) of Shreveport, LA.

Six great-grandchildren of "Pa" include Addie Hollenshead, Lillie Ann and Braden Miles, Veronica, John Ivan, and Caroline Calhoun.

For those wishing to make memorial donations, the family suggests the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, September 30 at Aulds Funeral Home on 7849 E. Kings Hwy in Shreveport. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:30am at the NWLA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana with Rev. Montie Dobbins officiating.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Lloyd's nephews, Larry Noell, David Boley, Morman Boley, Eddie Boley; and great-nephews Stephen and Austin Boley.
