Linda was born February 8, 1955 in Shreveport, La. She graduated from Fair Park High School class of 1973 in Shreveport, La where she was a part of FBLA, Pep Squad, and the Spanish Club. She went on to earn a technical degree from American School of Business. She worked for Louisiana Health Science Center Medical School and later moved to the hospital side where she worked in the Emergency Room and later retired from.
Linda was a wonderful mother, aunt, and wife she enjoyed spending her days watching football, playing bingo any chance she got, and loving her fur babies Beaux and Bailey until she was unable to care for them any longer. She loved crossword puzzles, fill-ins, and crocheting during her down days.
She was preceded in death by her parents W.M. Blaxton and Billie Jean Blaxton; beloved husband, Walter F. Hay; her sister and brother-in-law Connie and Michael Smithpeter; and niece, Katie Jean Smithpeter.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly D. Saffel and Woody McCart; Her Nephew M. Bryan Smithpeter; her grandchildren, Wyatt C. McCart and Wyleigh A. McCart.
Linda wished to be cremated and reunited with her husband. There are no plans for a service at this time per her wishes.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Town and Country Nursing and Rehab in Minden for the care and compassion that was given during her time there. Her CNA’s, Nurses, and many others were vital in her time there and though she resisted at times, you all held a special place in her heart. We could never express enough gratitude for care you provided and the time you allowed us to have with her.
Unbeknownst to us, in her final moments, hospice care was in progress of being put in place. The family would like to say thank you to Passages Hospice Care for the peace you brought to us in those moments. Those individuals who shared heartfelt, hard conversations, and even the tears shed around making sure we were doing what was in her best interest, while carrying out her wishes thank you hardly seems enough.
Rest in peace mama, we carried out all of your wishes just as we promised. Until we see you again, We love you always.
