It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leilani Black at the age of 82. Leilani was born on August 12, 1942, in Emlenton, Pennsylvania, to John and Leone Wetzel. She passed away in the comfort of her home in Shreveport, Louisiana, on December 31, 2024, surrounded by her husband, their dog, Kati, and her children.

Leilani met the love of her life, David Black, from Parker, Pennsylvania, in 1960, and they married on October 27, 1962. They had two daughters, Lori and Anita. Leilani graduated from Robert Morris University and worked at Knox Glass in Knox, Pennsylvania. The family lived in Parker until 1980, when they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where she worked at Poulan/Weed Eater for nearly ten years.

Leilani grew up in the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed camping, playing the piano, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and their family dog. She was known for her smiling face, warm heart, and strong sense of integrity and fairness. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, David; her daughter, Lori and son-in-law Paul Stephenson; her daughter, Anita and son-in-law Paul Cormier; her granddaughter, Megan and her husband Matt Ramsey; her grandson, Brett Stephenson and his husband Andy Maberry; her beloved mini Australian Shepherd, Kati; her sister Lana Wetzel; her cousin Patty and her husband Jack Winger; her cousin Donna and her husband Ron Louise; her brother-in-law, Don Black and his wife Judi; and various nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Christus Highland ER and the Christus Highland Cardiology department for their wonderful care given while there.  We would also like to thank the staff at Christus Hospice for their care given in our home.

A small gathering of close family will be held in her memory on a future date in Shreveport, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
