Lawrence Owen Tjaden

June 10, 1936-November 18, 2022

Lawrence Owen Tjaden was born June 10, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas to Benjiman Wayne and Helen (Hutchison) Tjaden and he passed away suddenly on November 18, 2022, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Lawrence graduated high school and went on to study Chemistry at Kansas University (even passing along many college textbooks and papers to his two sons) before leaving Kansas and pursuing his real interests...DANCING!  He was the Owner and Manager of Arthur Murry Dance Studios for most of his adult life.  It was his greatest passion.  He would dance into and out of the places he frequented.  When he wasn't dancing his next favorite thing to do was travel.  He said more than once that he never got to do enough of either one!

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Marc Tjaden and Brent Tjaden and his wife, Cathey; his granddaughter, Winter; great-grandchildren, Patton and Wyatt; sister, Nancy Hjetland-Kunkel; niece, Heather; and nephew, Scott.

A memorial service will be held at the family cemetery in Wichita, Kansas in the Spring of 2023.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Lawrence's best friend and colleague, Sydney Johnson, for his companionship and care taking of Lawrence in his elder years.
