Laveta Kay Dear, went to be with the Lord on December 7th 2020.

Ms. Dear was born November 17th 1949 in Dallas, Tx to Raymond Grubbs and Mary Catherine Grubbs

She touched many lives in her time here, and understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which we spend here.

She was a strong independent woman and she loved her family and friends fiercely. Even in the most trying times, Laveta always had a positive attitude. Through several battles with health problems and a battle with breast cancer, she always praised God in the midst of any and all trials and tribulations.

Laveta was proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Dear; mother, Mary Catherine Grubbs; and brother, Freddie Grubbs. She is survived by her father, Raymond Grubbs; brother, Raymond T Grubbs; daughters, Kathryn Orton and daughter of the heart Leisha Fortenberry, Mary West and husband James West; Linda Orton; grandchildren Jarrett Stewart and wife Mariana Stewart; Brianna Stewart, Joshua Delk, Blake Delk, Jerry Moore, Ethan Moore, and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Gateway Church, 8925 Youree Dr. Shreveport, Louisiana 71115.
