Lartha Mahoney Jr., affectionately known as "PeeWee," was born to Lartha Mahoney Sr. and Zula MaeMahoney in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 7, 1952. He was the fourth born of nine children.

Accepting Christ at an early age, he was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church of Cedar Grove. As his faith continued to guide him throughout his life, he later united with Greater Zion Mission Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ronald Perkins.

He was a man of many hats; whatever he put his hands to, he found a love for it.

On October 28, 2026, the Heavenly Father called his name. He is preceded in death by his father, Lartha Mahoney Sr.; his mother, Zula Mae Mahoney; his sister, Shirley Payne; and his brothers, James Johnson and Tommie Mahoney.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his son, Sha’Michael Kyles; his sisters, Brenda Durr (James), Debra Miller, and Sandra Mahoney; his brothers, Charles Mahoney (Cynthia) and Joe Mahoney (Dollie); a host of nieces and nephews; and his Daniel Street family.
