Obituary

Larry DeWayne Lott, 68, of Cotton Valley, Louisiana, passed away at home on April 4th, 2018.  A memorial service celebrating Larry's life will be held at 3 PM on April 14th at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA  71115.  Internment will take place at the Northwest Louisiana National Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana at a later date.

Larry was born on September 28th, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, the son of Jesse Paul Lott and Ethel Boyd Bethany Lott.  He proudly served his country when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, serving until 1969, during which time he did a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He served under the 9th Infantry Division with Company D 93rd Engineering Battalion.  As a combat engineer operating heavy equipment, he was awarded the 9th Infantry Division Combat Patch.  His unit was instrumental in establishing a six hundred acre joint Army/Navy base in Dong Tam on the My Tho River near the Meh Kong Delta, with the 9th Division on one side and a brown water base on the other side.  He served his country faithfully and honorably.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Paul Lott, his mother, Ethel Boyd Bethany Fender; two brothers, Jesse David Lott and Jesse Paul Lott; a brother, Vincent Keith Fender; and a sister Rachel Bethany Fender.

He will be missed by wife, Roberta Lyn Riedel Lott, of Cotton Valley, Louisiana, his sons, Larry DeWayne Lott, Jr., Texas, Jason DeWayne Lott and Christopher Cody Lott, both of Natchitoches, Louisiana and his daughter, Amy Leigh Lott Lonadier of Natchitoches, Louisiana; his sisters: Wilma Jean Lott Vincent, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Mona Vivian Crouch Thompson (husband Gavin), of Hockley, Texas;  Cynthia Lynn Crouch Gygli, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Stephanie Laine Fender Loftin (husband Jon), of Paris, Texas; and Stacie Marie Fender Scheck, of Carrollton, Texas; and his brothers: James Everett Lott, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Jack Crouch, Jr. (wife Teresa), of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and Shawn Keith Fender, of Fayetteville, Arkansas,  He will also be missed by numerous other family and friends.

Larry lived a good life.  He was well traveled, both as a young man and adult.  He was very proud of his work, which took him to eight different states and overseas.  He was particularly proud of his career as a Contracting Officer's Representative for the U.S. Coast Guard, a career which spanned fourteen years.  The shining star of that career was the largest project the Coast Guard had ever built, the Coast Guard base on NASA's Michoud facility near New Orleans.  Larry enjoyed outdoor activities; he panned for gold in Colorado, dug for diamonds in Arkansas, boated, canoed, fished, hiked, hunted and rode horses.  After retirement, Larry especially enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.

A special thanks to our family and friends who supported us during this difficult time, the doctors, nurses and staff of the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, who so lovingly cared for Larry and the folks at Regional Hospice, who stuck by us to the end.
