Obituary

Larry Thomas Leeth, beloved husband of 25 years to Joan E. Leeth, born August 2, 1941 to Robert and Catherine Cherry Leeth (both who preceded him in death) made his final journey of this earthly life on November 12, 2009 at the age of 68. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served our country as an aircraft weapons specialist in Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, South Vietnam, Australia and Guam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He made his living as a field service engineer servicing anything from gaming devices and office machines to coin operated pool tables. He was a life long member of the Moose Lodge serving as their manager in Casper, Wyoming. He was a traveler and adventurer, living in Casper, Wyoming; Lubbock, Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Amarillo, Texas and eventually returning back to his beloved Lake Bistineau in Ringgold, La. Along with his wife, Joan E., he is survived by daughters Tina Leeth and her son, Garrett "Bubba" Leeth of Ringgold, La and Teresa Harris and her husband, Gary and their children, Gabrielle (Gabby) Gaspard, Katie Harris, and Michael Harris of Shreveport, La. He will also be missed by many loving family members (see family tree), countless friends including his best friend, Donald Ray Ellis of Amarillo, Texas and his loyal dogs. Larry was a simple man, who loved to cook especially barbecue, smoked meat, and the best home made yeast rolls you'd ever eat. He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, hunting, target shooting, reading, and his daily crossword puzzles. He loved his family and friends, his country and his Lord, listening to old time country gospel records he played on Sundays while sitting on his deck overlooking his Spanish moss wooded lot. The family will be having a lakeside memorial celebration of his life led by Chaplain Amador Santos, of Agape' Hospice and followed with a "daddy-style" barbecue/fish fry, music, reminiscing and lots of fun on December 5th at 1 pm at the Shady Point Pavilion on Lake Bistineau. The family wishes to thank the Overton Brooks VAMC staff of the palliative care unit for their care. The family would like to also honor our Veterans by requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the new Veterans Transitional Living Program for Homeless Veterans c/o Volunteers of America, 360 Jordan St, Shreveport, LA 71101.
