Funeral services for Larry Stephen "Doc" Faires, 66, will be conducted at 11:00, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Aulds Funeral Home chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana, with Associate Pastor Doug Ricker officiating.  Visitation will also be Saturday at the chapel at 10:00.  Interment will be 2:30 at the Moore Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Larry was born June 4, 1957 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was born into the Family of God in Center, Texas at the age of 8 or 9.  He passed away October 24, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana after many years of struggling with emphysema, a recent fight with cancer, and a lengthy stay in the hospital.

Though he will be greatly missed, our Lord Jesus Christ decided it was time for him go to his Heavenly Home, to catch his breath and rest with the Father for Eternity.

Larry graduated Parkway High School in 1975 where he learned at trade school to be a machinist. He was extremely skilled at the trade and was also an exceptional motorcycle mechanic, with Harley Davidsons being his bike of choice.

He worked at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, was co-owner of Joy Enterprises in Niceville, Florida, was a mechanic at Cajun Cycle Express, and worked at various machine shops over the years. He retired a master machinist in 2020 from Doug Semon Production Machining in Shreveport.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Jim Faires and his mother Marie Jones Faires.

He is survived by his brothers:  Jimmy Faires Sr. and wife, Mary, of Bossier City, LA; Donny Faires and wife, Jodi, of Keithville, LA; his wife, Sheree Faires, of Bossier City; his nieces: Jennifer Lapham and husband, RJay, of Clovis, NM; Andrea Perdue and husband, Jake, of Haughton, LA; his nephews: Aaron Faires, of Shreveport; and Jim Faires, Jr. and wife, Cristy, of Shreveport; Six great nephews: Austin, Aidan, and Asa Faires; Levi Lapham; Abel and Samuel Perdue; and one great niece, Addie Marie Faires.

Pallbearers will be Donny Faires, Aaron Faires, Jake Perdue, Jason Waggoner, Jim Faires, Jr. and Jimmy Faires, Sr.
