Kirby Ann Hayes was born in Fisher, LA on July 15, 1936, to Charles E. and Lucy Russell and passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Shreveport, LA. Kirby was a resident of Shreveport, LA and most of her life was in Sabine Parish Florien, LA.
Kirby was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She retired from Boise Cascade in Florein, LA. Kirby was a caregiver, great cook always wanting to feed you when you came for a visit. Kirby loved working outside keeping the yard immaculate.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles E. and Lucy Russell, her husband James L. Hayes and Richard McGowan, Jr., brothers Sid, Bill, and Clinton Russell, sisters Shelby Rutherford and Helen Eicher.
Kirby is survived by her son Ricky J. McGowan, granddogs Besty and Kosmo, host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. Also a special thank you to her dear friend Lynn Elliott, a special thank you to Denise, Martha, Sally, Lori, Sharon, Dee, Michelle, Andrea, Renee, and Gaby for always being there for her.
A special thank you to the staff at Saint Joseph/Carpenter House Hospice for the exceptional care that she received, and the Brentwood Business office team for their love and support.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, July 17, 2026 at Aulds Funeral Home chapel with Eric Strozier and Bishop David Thompson officiating.
