Obituary

A memorial service for Katherine "Kathe" Quay McMullan, 71, will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 E Kings Hwy, Shreveport, Louisiana at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at LDC Event Center, 1493 US-171, Stonewall, Louisiana . Officiating the service will be Reverend Dr. C. Calvin Reynolds.

Kathe was born, the second of six children, on June 7, 1950 in Jackson, Mississippi to Wilson Quinby McMullan and Anna R. McGowan McMullan and passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 in Bossier City, Louisiana at Pilgrim Manor.

She graduated C.E. Byrd High School in 1967 and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she majored in Art. In 1986, Kathe met John Edward McLeaish at George Burton's home, a mutual friend of theirs. They were married in 1987 and together they had blended family of five children.

Kathe was a member of Shreveport Regional Arts Council, through which she had art displayed in numerous art shows. She was able to use her talent and love for sewing by being the seamstress for numerous costumes for plays and movies filmed here in Shreveport. She was an actress and was signed to the Acclaim Talent Agency. Her friends with Acclaim said that Kathe was one of the funniest people they had ever met. She was a member of the theatre group, Bad Kids of Theatre along with Cervantes Reck, Greg and Mary Wallin and her husband, John McLeaish. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport.

During her employment at Centenary College of Louisiana, she greatly enriched the lives of many students. She was affectionately known as the "Pizza Lady" in the cafeteria and was loved by many for her wit and humor. At Centenary, she met Nilu Nhungel and she soon became a close and special friend.

Kathe is preceded in death by her parents Wilson Quinby McMullan and Anna R. McGowan McMullan, brothers, William Wilson, Irwin McGowan and James Quinby McMullan. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, John McLeaish; children, David McLeaish, Aaron McLeaish, Allison McLeaish, Wilson McMullan and Katherine "Katy" McLeaish; grandchildren, Hailee, Julian, Miles, Alexis, Macey, Kaitlin, Kai, Starry, River, Luna, Yuri, Ginger, Rosemary, Tanner, Noah and Axel; sisters, Leslie Lightfoot, and Isabelle McMullan; nieces and nephews, Lane Lightfoot, Laurel Whitaker, Nerin McMullan, Henry Robichaux and Luke McMullan.

The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful staff at Pilgrim Manor their care and compassion shown to Kathe during this most difficult time. Words cannot express how thankful we are for everyone - from Ashley at the front desk, Speech therapists, Heidi & Whitney. CNA coordinator, Shay, CNA, Tracy and wound care nurse, Julie. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Kathe touched the lives of many people and genuinely cared for people. She would help anyone she could and would give the shirt off her back to help someone. She found joy in seeing her friends, family, and coworkers happy and succeeding in life. In death, Kathe is truly still a giver. She chose to donate her body to LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport to further medical research.
