Julie Byrd Shelby Hayes, 72, of Shreveport, Louisiana, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 7th, 2025, surrounded by family.
Julie was born on May 5th, 1953, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to John Harvey (JH) and Rosana Shelby. She grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Northwood High School with the class of 1971.

Julie is survived by her husband, Paul D. Hayes; son, Jason and wife Nico; granddaughter, Anna Jordan; father, JH Shelby; sister, Charlotte and husband Mike Uli; brothers, Danny and Gary Shelby; nieces, Rebecca Driskill, Katie Sweeten, and Lindsey Selucky, along with their families; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosana, and brother, John Shelby.

Julie loved nature, especially birds and plants, and was a member of the National Audubon Society and the Louisiana Native Plants Society. She traveled often to places like Briarwood, St. Francisville, and Dauphin Island in pursuit of these interests. Some of her other pastimes included photography and graphic design, fishing, beach-combing, and gardening.

She had a compassionate heart, was an excellent cook, and loved feeding people. Her roast beef, mashed potatoes, and broccoli for Sunday lunch will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The memorial service will be held at North Shreve Baptist Church, located at 4930 Old Mooringsport Road, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, May 10th, at 2 pm, followed by visitation.

Rest in peace, Julie Byrd. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
