Obituary

Julian Leslie 'Les' Alford left this world peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on November 18, 1940, in Daytona Beach, FL.  He graduated from Mainland High School and then served in the US Army and Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was awarded the prestigious Flying Cross Medal when he was part of an AC-119 Air Crew.  Les was passionate about his career as an insurance agent.  He spent many years of his life pursuing his occupation and eventually became an independent agent in Minden, LA.  He never fully retired and was always hoping to continue his career prior to his illness.

Les was a member of Atkins F & AM Lodge and the Minden Lions Club. He previously served in the Shriner's Clown Unit.   The funeral is to be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Indian Hills Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Minden Lions Club or the Shriners Hospital for Children in his honor.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Maurine Howell Alford, his brother, George Alford of Daytona Beach, FL, two spouses, Becky Peavy of Minden, LA, and Henrietta Colletti of Maringouin, LA, and a step-son, Leslie Dale Thomas of Shreveport, LA.  He is survived by his brother, James (Linda) Alford of Port Orange, FL, his son Julian Leslie Black of  Deering, GA, his daughter, Tracy (Jeffrey) Moore of Pensacola, FL, stepchildren Rodney Colletti of New Orleans, LA,  Michael (Christy) Reid of Mountain Home, AR, Steven Fornea of Elm Grove, LA, Stacy (Shannon) Taylor Silsbee, TX, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
