Johnny 'Lee' Potter
May 19, 1949 - December 17, 2021
Johnny 'Lee' Potter, age 72, lost his battle with cancer on the evening of Friday, December 17, 2021. He was born on May 19, 1949, at Ft. Bliss Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas to Clarence Bernard Potter and Virginia Mangham Potter. He was the youngest of four children.
Mr. Potter graduated from Airline High School in Bossier City with the class of 1967. He continued his education in Accounting at the newly created Bossier Parish Community College for two years, then transferred to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He worked with several different accounting and CPA firms in the Shreveport area before relocating to Austin, Texas for a number of years. During this time he joined with a friend in a partnership that rescued faltering businesses by helping them to restructure their business plans and accounting practices. Upon returning to the Shreveport-Bossier area, he spent ten years in the Billing Department at LSUMC before retiring in 2017.
Mr. Potter was a long-time follower of the Texas Rangers baseball team and spent many hours in the stands cheering them on. He also enjoyed collecting diecast model cars, liked to cook, and was very creative in the kitchen.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Bernard and Virginia Mangham Potter; one sister, Janice Kay Potter Clemandot; and his brother, Bobby George Potter. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Carol Potter; sister-in law, Sue Jackson Potter; brother-in-law, James Clemandot; eight beloved nieces and nephews and many more great nieces and nephews; life-long friend, Charles Rascoe and many loving and supportive friends and former co-workers.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Riverview Care Center for their care over the past five years and the nurses of Lifepath Hospice. Lee's ashes will be distributed, as he requested, and a private family memorial will be scheduled for a later date.
"In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one can ever fill
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home."
