Obituary

John Hardjasudarma, MD, MPH, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at the age of 78 on Wednesday, June 15 th at 11:32 A.M, surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was preceded by his parents, brother and sister. He is survived by his wife, Sheanny and their only son, Christopher.

John was born on October 15, 1943 in Jakarta, Indonesia. He came to America with Sheanny in 1971; he returned to Jakarta, Indonesia after he completed his MPH at the University of Pittsburgh, PA.

He returned with Sheanny in 1975 and had his internship at Shadyside Hospital, completed his Radiology Residency, then continued his fellowship in Neuroradiology at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Upon his fellowship completion he was offered to join a group of Radiologists in a teaching hospital at the Memorial University of NFLD in Newfoundland, Canada. Then on to Kingston General Hospital and Toronto General Hospital in Ontario. He was Board Certified for the Canadian and the American Board in Neuro-Radiology.

He started his long career at the LSU Medical Center, Department of Radiology. He loved to teach and was the Program Director for 16 years. He was Acting Chairman in 1992. He published numerous papers in Radiology and Neuroradiology.

He was actively involved with the Rotary; was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

His childhood hobby was "Stamp Collecting and Front Covers of the Netherlands Indies", which he continued to enjoy until he wasn't able to do this any longer due to Parkinson's. He published numerous articles in the American, Canadian and Netherland's Philatelic magazines nationwide.

In May of 2006, Washington DC, the American Society for Netherlands Philately presented him with The Johannes de Kruyf Award in recognition and appreciation of his selfless devotion and outstanding contributions to Netherlands Philately.

He was intrigued by the history and wealth of information behind every series of stamps and covers which he enjoyed collecting and publishing articles about them in various philatelic magazines.

He had always been a great optimist, caring and happy individual. He's been a wonderful father to Chris and a dedicated husband to Sheanny. He was a God-loving, caring and generous man, an active Church member who was loved dearly by his family and friends alike and will be missed tremendously.

The family is going to celebrate John's life with a Memorial Service at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church; 1915 Grover Pl, Shreveport, LA. 71105

at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 20 th , 2022.

To Dr. Richard Zweig who has been looking after John for the past 13 years as his patient until he retired from LSU-Health, Shreveport.

To Dr. Jim Freeman and Broadmoor Presbyterian Church Family; for all the prayers and loving attention to John, Sheanny and Christopher.
