John David Doyal was born December 10, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He died at home in Benton on January 2, 2025, at the age of 71 with his family beside him. A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025, at Benton Methodist Church located at 4615 Palmetto Rd. Benton, La 71006 at 11 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Brad Franklin and associate pastor David Dietzel followed by a ceremony by the Masonic Lodge.

David is survived by his wife Doretta Hutto Doyal of 35 years. He was preceded in death by his father Warren Doyal and Mother Lavern Doyal.  David leaves behind his brother Aubrey Doyal from Benton, his daughter Valerie and her husband Chris from Downsville, LA, and his son John "Tommy" Thomas Doyal and his wife Brianna from Bossier city. Additionally, a granddaughter, Racheal, and 2 great grandchildren, Raven and Joyce from West Monroe.

David graduated from Plain Dealing Academy. He was an aircraft mechanic retired from Boeing and Express Jet. He had both an A&P and an I&A license. He did many oil changes and annuals on airplanes at the downtown airport.

David was a valued member of the Benton Community. He served as Senior Warden in the Cypress Masonic Lodge #89. He was forever grateful for his work with the Shriners, and he proudly served with the Scottish Rites Temple.

David enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, NASCAR, and RC airplanes. He was a long-time member of the Sharks. David and his dad obtained their private pilot license together and flew frequently. David acquired the nickname "Goober" while working at a gas station in Benton. As he got older, he shortened it to "Goob".

The family wants to thank the staff of Willis Knighton Bossier Hospital and Dr. Mathew Hefner and staff, WK Oncology department, and Passages Hospice.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Bossier Sherriff's Department and Cypress Masonic Lodge #89. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Benton Methodist Church located at 4615 Palmetto Rd. Benton, Louisiana 71006.
