May 15, 1948 – September 28, 2024
John Douglas Cox, 76, went home to be with the Lord September 28th. He was a resident of Elm Grove, Louisiana and Bryson City, North Carolina.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Cox and Elizabeth Cox Toney, stepfather W.F.Toney, infant son John Jr., son Jurgen, and niece Kemberly.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Cole, sister Kathy Cluck, nieces Raeschelle, and Kelly, and nephew Robbie. Surviving children are Angie, Kathy, and Melissa, several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
John graduated from Minden High School and Northwestern State University. He worked for several years as a museum technician at Fort Polk, now Fort Johnson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John had many interests and was able to pursue a few of them as his health allowed, such as woodworking, ceramics, computers, model building, astronomy, Star Trek Online, WWII history, gardening, growing flowers, fishing, hunting, archeology, and anthropology. He was also an excellent cook! He will be greatly missed by those who were closest to him.
