John was born August 31, 1948 in Lafayette, Indiana. He studied at Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas where he met his wife of 46 years, Lynda. John joined the Air Force in 1972 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1976. He worked at UGC in Shreveport, Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Malony Systems Group in Houston, Texas and his own company CCU in Shreveport, Louisiana. He developed computers to measure oil and gas products. His systems were placed around the world. He completed his career as Program Director of Instrumentation and Associate Dean of Technical Operations at Texas State Technical College in Marshall, Texas. John developed congestive heart failure and was disabled. At the end of his life, he was cared for by Pat, Chris, Austin, and Lynda Britton in their home with the help of Amedisys Hospice. The family would like to thank all the caregivers, especially Angie Cameron and Allen Semien. John was preceded in death by his father Robert W. Britton, his brother Michael and his sister Barbara. He is survived by his mother Patricia L. Britton, his sister Liz Sorem, his wife Lynda, his sons Chris and Jeff, his daughter-in-law Pat, his grandchildren Austin Britton and Brynne Chandler, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 12 PM Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Aulds Funeral Home Chapel, followed by Military Honors and inurnment at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 PM. You are invited to attend. Following the interment, the family welcomes friends and family to their home at 707 E. Southfield Road in Shreveport.
