Shreveport, LA - Joe Grady Windham, 91 years of age and long time resident of Shreveport Bossier area passed away December 17, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Bay Springs Mississippi on November 21, 1925 Joe Grady was a Mississippi farm boy that joined the army at 18 to serve his country in WWII. He was a soldier in the 3rd Platoon I Co. 260th Infantry Division and faught in France and Germany under General George Patton. After the war Joe met the love of his life Mary Cusomano and was married in Shreveport La. 1949. Joe and Mary had three children; Michael, Deborah, and Suzanne. Joe was a Continental Trailways Bus driver for almost 40 years. He was a man of many pursuits; avid outdoorsman, naturalist, gardener, chef, craftsman. Joe loved walking whether it was quail hunting or just a morning walk before breakfast. He authored the book " Fragmentation" his memoirs of WWII. Joe was a brilliant man full of wit, humor, and life he will be dearly missed by those fortunate enough to have been part of his life. Joe is survived by his 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Beulah (Yelverton) Windham, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and one great grandson. Joe's final resting place will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Keithville La. A brief service will be held at the Cemetery on January 3rd at 1:00pm prior to burial.
