Joe William Miot, Jr, 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was born February 21, 1939 in New Orleans, LA. Joe made his career in the radio and television industry for over 60 years. He was active with the Norwela Council of The Boy Scouts of America for nearly 40 years, where he held many leadership positions and received numerous awards. He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge and a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Freemason.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Christine Miot of Texarkana, AR. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janis Miot; children Ted Miot and his wife Shari, Diana Miot Sims and her husband Matthew, and Daniel Miot; grandchildren Tyler Leach, Julia Leach, Kambre Sims and Matthew Sims, Jr. of Shreveport; and brother, Chris Miot and wife Denise; nephew Chad Miot and his wife Amanda and son Zack, of Texarkana, TX.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Synergy Home Care and Regional Hospice for their loving care and support.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Kings Highway Christian Church at 806 Kings Highway, Shreveport. A visitation will be held following the service.
