JoAnn (Young) Buziewicz went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022, at her home in Shreveport, LA. She was born on January 1, 1945, in Erie, PA, and grew up there with her parents Bernard and Anna Young. She married Raymond "Butch" Leupold and had two sons, Richard and Michael. Following Raymond's death, while the boys were very young, JoAnn attended Edinboro College to study art. A few years later, she met Peter Buziewicz, and they were married on October 23, 1971.  JoAnn and Peter raised her sons, co-parented his sons, Peter Jr. and Brian, and had a daughter, Ann.

As the children grew, JoAnn pursued her interests in all things art. She created lovely sculptures, jewelry, embroidery, stained glass, and watercolor paintings. She even adorned the kitchen wall with a stunning landscape featuring geese in flight. Also, JoAnn and Peter loved camping, custom painting all types of vehicles, walking to Lake Erie from their house, playing with their dogs, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the forests of rural Pennsylvania. They were friends of Bill W. and were active, inspirational members of their local community.

As the children married, JoAnn became the quintessential spoiling grandmother. She shared her love of holiday traditions, crafts, Disney movies, and sweets with her grandchildren Paige, Kaylee, Breanna, Angi, Christina, Mike, and Max. Decorating Easter eggs was her specialty!

She was an amazing example of perseverance and joy in all circumstances, having survived 4 aneurysms and a massive stroke in 2005.  Despite being unable to talk or write she developed ways to communicate non-verbally and maintained an amazing sense of humor and joy no matter what life dealt her.  The past year, God brought her Jeter Speech Therapy, who after diligently working with her, began to teach her to speak again.

Her last year was full of so much hope and healing! She will be missed by all who knew her and were inspired by her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Anna Young, her husbands Raymond Leupold and Peter Buziewicz, her son Richard Buziewicz, her daughter-in-law Judi Buziewicz and grandson Jake Burford.

JoAnn will be greatly missed by her stepsons Pete Buziewicz Jr. of Girard, PA,  and Brian Buziewicz  (Coleen) of Erie, PA, her son Mike Buziewicz (Emily) of Dallas Texas, and daughter Ann Burford (Chris) of Shreveport, LA; eight grandchildren Paige, Kaylee, Breanna, Angela, Christina, Mike, Chris, and Max.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on March 10, 2022, at Calvary Chapel Shreveport, 2115 Line Ave. Shreveport, LA 71105.
