Jo Ann Barnes, age 86, of Keithville, Louisiana passed away on August 22, 2024 with her loving family nearby.
She was born on October 11, 1937 in Shreveport, LA to Earlene and Willie Harper Boggs.
Jo Ann was a devout Christian whose faith in Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life. She was deeply committed to her faith and she dedicated countless hours to writing and sharing religious passages that touched her personally. Her unwavering faith, kindness, and compassion were a source of strength and inspiration to her family, friends, and community throughout her life.
She married the love of her life, Clyde Anthony Barnes Jr. in Marshall, TX in the late 1950s and together they raised two children: Clyde Anthony Barnes III "Tony" and Marla Flaherty.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jo Ann was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and her ability to see the good in everyone. She lived her life as a true reflection of Christ's love, always putting others before herself.
Jo Ann enjoyed painting, singing, long phonecalls, cuddling her kitty Luna, eating delicious food, and shopping and pedicures with her daughter. She was deeply dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Jo Ann is survived by her two children and spouses: Tony and Catherine Barnes and Marla and Keith Flaherty, three grandchildren and spouses: Julie and Tara Barnes, Clyde Anthony Barnes IV "Anthony" and Holly Barnes, and Colten Flaherty, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Margaret Kirkpatrick. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Clyde Anthony Barnes Jr, her parents: Earlene and Harper Boggs, and each of her brothers: Willie Ray Boggs, Clyde Edward Boggs, and Jack Boggs.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of her Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her. Jo Ann leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Jo Ann's life will be held at Auld's Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 27th at 11:00 am with Pastor William Valentine officiating.
The family wishes to thank Willis Knighton Hospice Care and all who have supported them during this difficult time.
Jo Ann Barnes will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
