Obituary

Jerry Micheal Vest Jr., 43, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on June 20, 2026.

Jerry will be remembered as a husband, a loving father, and a cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. A remarkably talented artist for more than 26 years, Jerry shared his creativity and passion across both the Northwest Louisiana and Orlando areas. His vibrant artistic vision, kind heart, and unforgettable spirit left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He leaves behind his beloved five-year-old daughter, Lena; his wife, Katelyn; his sister, Jennifer Lafitte; his nieces, Ashlyn and Braylen; his nephew, Kaden; his aunts, Cindy Ward, Janiece Bob, Susan Lombana, and Cherie Hunter; his uncle, Rodney Richardson; his Dad, Jerone Lafitte and countless cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Lafitte, and his father, Jerry Vest Sr.

Memorial Services & Remembrances

The family is currently finalizing arrangements, and additional details will be shared as they become available. Jerry will be laid to rest next to his mother. To honor his life, two main memorial services will be held at the end of the month.

Special Celebration of Life Service for Lena

On July 5th, a small, child-friendly memorial will be held specifically for his daughter, Lena, to help her honor her father. Together with family, Lena will blow bubbles up to her daddy, do art in remembrance of Jerry’s immense talent, and watch The Wizard of Oz—a movie Jerry was dearly looking forward to sharing with her. The day will conclude with a beautiful glowstick vigil that evening.

Honoring Jerry’s Legacy

The family is profoundly grateful for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support poured out during this incredibly difficult time. For those wishing to show their love and appreciation for a man who deserved the moon and the stars—and to support the sweet five-year-old girl he leaves behind—the family gracefully accepts anything you would like to give to recognize Jerry. You can contact his sister, Jennifer Lafitte, if you would like to show love and support in any way.

The family just asks mainly that you please keep Jerry’s family in your prayers, especially little Lena, who will carry her daddy’s immense love with her for the rest of her life.

Jerry’s memory will live on forever through the love he gave, the art he created, and the lives he changed.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten. Our sweet Jerry.
