Shreveport, LA - Jerry Don Shelton, age 58, passed away August 24, 2015. He was born September 25, 1956 in Shreveport, LA. He was a proud graduate of C. E. Byrd High School, and a faithful member of Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always put God first. His love for his family and friends was reflected in everything he did. He was a passionate servant of Kairos Prison Ministry for the last 18 years. He enjoyed time on the golf course with friends and family. Jerry is preceded in death by parents Sidney Ray Shelton Sr. and Edna Causey Shelton, and brother Sidney Ray Shelton, Jr. Celebrating the completion of his life's mission here on earth are his wife, Anita Leon Shelton, daughter, Sarah Shelton Hankins, son-in-law, Matthew, and grandson, Charlie Hankins. Brothers, R. Wayne Shelton and wife Mira; Archie L. Shelton, as well as a large extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. Friday August 28, 2015 Mangum UMC, 3939 Pines Road Shreveport, LA 71119. The family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Camp Caney or David Wade Kairos.
