Jerry Rainey went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 27, 2017. He attended the Oakmont Church of God until his health didn't permit it and was formerly a member of Faith Tabernacle on Pine Hill Road in Blanchard, Louisiana. Jerry was retired from Riley Beaird Co. and spent much of his career traveling to foreign countries such as Indonesia building various plants for the company. After retirement, he enjoyed making his surroundings beautiful with many pretty trees and shrubs at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jerry was a native of Greenville, IL where he resided until he joined the United States Army. His jobs carried him to many states until he came to Shreveport, Louisiana where he met and married his wife, Betty Jo McClelland Rainey, who survives him. He is also survived by his father, Robert Rafael Rainey, daughters, Debbie Burkhalter of Wisconsin, Cindy Rainey and a son, Billy Rainey of Florida, his step-children, Kay McClelland, Joan Barfield, and Ricky and Harriet McClelland, and his brother-in-law and wife, Truly and Martha McDaniel.
Graveside services will be held 2pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana with the United States Army Honor Guard participating in celebration of his life. Officiating will be Bro. Jimmy McDaniel, and Jerry's favorite song "Oh HE touched me!" will be sung by the Ingles.
