Obituary

Jerry Leon Frentress, 81, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather affectionately known as Papa, Jerry dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and helping others reach their full potential.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Andrea Lynn Frazee Frentress; his daughter, Dawn Lynn Frentress Norris, her husband, Chris, and their children, Grace Olivia Frentress Norris and Jack Henry Frentress Norris; and his son, Joel Leon Frentress, his wife, Mindy Page Rowe Frentress, and their children, Madelyn Page Frentress and Hannah Claire Frentress. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and this close-knit family of ten was the center of his world.

Jerry was born on September 2, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, to Elmer Leon and Dorothy Margaret Frentress. He attended public schools in San Antonio and developed a lifelong love of Scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He discovered his talent for broadcasting while earning an associate's degree at San Antonio College. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Radio-Television-Film with high and special honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he met Andrea. He later taught in Baylor University's Communications Department while completing his master's degree at UT.

Over a 37-year career in radio, Jerry held positions as a salesperson, sales manager, general manager, and market manager for multiple stations. His varied career also included work as a television weathercaster, morning radio personality, and part owner of an advertising agency. His professional accomplishments earned him numerous honors, including the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters' Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, a commendation from the City of Corpus Christi for his service during Hurricane Celia, and the Bossier Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Owner of the Year Award.

Jerry had a remarkable gift for teaching, mentoring, and encouraging others. He generously shared his knowledge and experience, helping countless individuals grow into successful salespeople and managers. After leaving radio, he founded Win-Win Motivation and More, a consulting company whose name captured his guiding philosophy: when your client wins, you win. A member of the National Speakers Association, Jerry spoke at conferences and meetings, authored 25 Winning Sales Habits and 25 More Winning Sales Habits, and shared his daily "Sales Insights" with more than 600 email subscribers. He found great satisfaction in helping others succeed.

Jerry's commitment to serving others extended well beyond his professional life. A lifelong Methodist, he served on the Church Council, chaired the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee, and became a Stephen Minister, offering compassionate support to people during difficult times. He also donated more than 25 gallons of blood throughout his lifetime. Knowing that his blood could help newborn babies, Jerry would drop everything when the blood center called with a need.

Above all, Jerry loved his family, his God, and his country. He took great delight in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and he gave freely of his time, wisdom, encouragement, and love. His family will remember his steadfast devotion, his generous spirit, and the countless ways he showed his love through his actions. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.

For those wishing to honor Jerry's memory, the family invites you to carry forward his spirit of generosity by donating blood or making a contribution to Asbury United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from noon – 1 p.m. at Asbury, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m.
