IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Don
"Donny" Wimberly
November 28, 1955 – January 9, 2025
A celebration of life for Jerry Don "Donny" Wimberly will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m, at Auld's Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana, with military honors afterwards at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, Louisiana (GPS 32.15640, -93.35690). Jerry was born on November 28, 1955, to Teer Wimberly and Vivian Sherwin Wimberly and left this world on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jerry served in the US Air Force and then entered into the exhilarating world as a Tower/Antenna specialist where he traveled around the United States erecting and maintaining radio and television towers for over 40 years. In addition to his tower work, he was also a TV Engineer for KMSS for many years. Jerry had a love of cooking for his family and never missed an opportunity to serve up some good ol' fried chicken, a grilled steak, or a family favorite, a chocolate malt. He was also famously known for his massive sweat tea jug that for many years he was never seen without.
In his later years, when life slowed down for this fast-paced adventurer, he found a love for the Lord, playing the piano, and writing poetry. He had a passion to support and honor his fellow Veterans and was dedicated to his fellowship as a brother in arms. Jerry reveled in any time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and beloved chihuahua.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Wimberly; and sister-in-law, Rusty Wimberly. He is survived by his wife Patricia "Patti" Wimberly; brother, Thomas "Tommy" Wimberly; two daughters, Candi Wimberly Jones and husband Kevin; Casie Wimberly Montagne and husband Jamie; and three sons, Aaron Simpson and wife Michelle, James "Trapper" Sanders and wife Jindalae and Travis Wimberly and wife Heather; and 14 grandchildren (Elizabeth Jones, Nickie Montagne, Emily Jones, AJ Simpson, Eden Jones, Shelbie Montagne, Heather Simpson, Eliah Jones, Gabriel Wimberly, Jacob Montagne, Evynlea Jones, Sean Wimberly, Bethany Wimberly, and Amzi Wimberly); and one great granddaughter, Amara Cameron.
