Obituary

Celebrating the Life of Jerrald Cooper Deaton

Jerry Deaton was born on April 2, 1941 in Jackson, Tennessee to parents Johnny and Geneva Deaton. He passed away on March 5, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Jerry graduated from Southside High School in Jackson, TN in 1960. He excelled in football throughout high school. It was at Southside that he met Mary King. The two married shortly after meeting. Soon afterwards, Jerry joined the Army where he was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. While in the service, his two sons were born named Jerrald Cooper, Jr. and Roger Jay.

Jerry had many trades, eventually settling with electrical. He worked for and ran many companies throughout the Ark-La-Tex, at last settling with Camus Electric as head estimator where he later retired.

After retiring, Jerry enjoyed spending his time on Lake Bistineau with his beloved companion, Deborah Evans. He had many friends and always lent a helping hand for those who needed it. Jerry enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and duck hunting.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Deborah Evans; the mother of his children, Mary King Deaton; his parents, Johnny and Geneva Deaton; and his three older brother's, Jimmy, Bobby and Donald Deaton.

Jerry is survived by his oldest son, Jerrald Deaton, Jr. and Jerrald's children, Blake and Sarah Deaton, granddaughter, Stormi Deaton, and their mother, Vikki Deaton; his son, Jay Deaton and Jay's children, Jordan and Miranda Deaton, and grandson, Kai Deaton; and lastly, a special friend who Jerry thought of as a daughter, Cindy Camus.

A special thanks to those who were present in his final days including Jerry's family and also his friends, such as Bill Stroud, Sam Dickson, Anita Shows, Ginny and Dan Befort, Robby and Lori Bookout, Cindy Camus, Lynn Simon, and Cole Tucker.
