Jeri Janelle Jones Cobb

July 8, 1940 - May 24, 2025

Jeri Janelle Jones Cobb passed away peacefully on Saturday May 24, 2025 with the love of her life, John Cobb, by her side. We find comfort knowing she is in the presence of her savior and reunited with her family that has gone before her. Born in Shreveport, LA, she was the child of Eva and Curtis Jones of Coushatta, Louisiana, along with her sisters, Rose Cox and Faye Waltman. She graduated in 1958 from Coushatta High School where she was the valedictorian and homecoming queen. She attended Northwestern State University. Jeri married Johnny on June 8, 1963, and they had two children, Alan and Debbie. Jeri has held many titles in her life, including secretary to the president of United Gas Corporation, President of the Louisiana State Republican Women's Club, and Executive Director of several Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants in Shreveport. She helped coordinate events for the City of Shreveport and served as president of Friends of the Barnwell Center. She and Johnny were big LSU fans and attended all the home games from 2007-2020. However, her most important roles were that of wife, mother and Mimi. She and John designed and built their beautiful home, which they named Burkett Bridge Bluff, on the banks of Loggy Bayou in Bienville Parish.

Jeri was preceded in death by her parents and her great-grandson Nicholas Reed Sistrunk.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, John A. Cobb Sr, son, Alan (Cathy), daughter Debbie (Bill); grandchildren Matthew Cobb (Dorianne), Caroline Silvera (Andrew), Becky Griffin (Cole), Jessica Sistrunk (Aaron), Laura Allison (Lance), Will Mooney; and great grandchildren Emilia Cobb, Sadie Lee Silvera, Gavin Griffin, Camron Griffin, Jaidynn Griffin, Addisyn Griffin, Jude Griffin, Landon Sistrunk, Chloe Allison, Olivia Allison, Noah Allison and a great grandson on the way, who is due on her birthday.

The family will celebrate her life in a private service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Jeri's name.
