Jeff Carlton McCombs was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He grew up in Atlanta, Texas, and graduated from Atlanta High School. He went on to Texas A&M Commerce, where he graduated with a journalism degree in 1962.

He married his high school sweetheart, the late Mary Nichole "Nickie" Bryant, in 1961. After graduation they moved to Shreveport and had a daughter, Nina. Jeff enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors.

Jeff worked for Sears Shreveport in advertising and sales for 29 years until he retired in 1991. He soon became bored with retirement and went on to work as a cage manager at Harrah's Casino until 1998.

He passed away Feb. 12 after a short illness. His family is very grateful for the generous and compassionate care he received from the staff of Willis Knighton Health Center - Pierremont.

Jeff's family and friends are invited to a visitation and celebration of his life at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71115, on Friday, March 3, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Bring your memories to share, and enjoy some of his favorite pizza and sandwiches. The burial will be Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn and Wayne McCombs, and his wife, Mary Nichole "Nickie" Bryant McCombs. He is survived by his daughter, Nina, and her husband, Randy; his sister, Jan Ellis; niece Tracy Oller and nephew Quint Ellis; and many much-loved great- and great-great nieces and nephews. His family wishes to thank friends Sandy and Rick Perkins, and their family, for their support and help.
