It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Marie Currie (Peavy) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on February 22, 2025, at the age of 70. Jane graduated from South Beauregard High School in 1973 and received her master's degree from McNeese State University in 1981. She was a devoted educator for 42 years, teaching and touching the lives of countless students, colleagues, and families with her warmth and passion. She spent the last years of her teaching career at Eighty-First Street ECE in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, before retiring in 2020.
Jane's heart was as big as her dedication to her family and her students. Above all, she loved her family deeply. She was known to light up any conversation with stories of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her pride in them clear to anyone who would listen. Her love for them was unmatched, and she cherished each precious moment spent with them.
In addition to her family, Jane had an enormous, giving heart. She and her husband, Bill, were longtime active members of their church, The Healing Place, where she participated in numerous community outreach programs, always eager to help those in need. Her generosity, kindness, and commitment to others were evident in everything she did.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Wilbur (Bill) Currie of Shreveport, Louisiana, her mother, Mildred Peavy of Ragley, Louisiana, her siblings James (Bettye) Peavy, Russell Peavy, and Valerie (Victor) Logan, her son Joshua Currie, and step-children Robert, Kathy, and Karen, her grandchildren Timothy, Trent, and Tinsley, step-grandchildren Rachel, Dylan, Kathryn, Brandon, Wesley, Susie, Molly, and Billy, step-great grandchildren, Adalynn, Damian, Emberlynn, Sailor, and Oaklyn, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Peavy of Ragley, Louisiana, and her sister-in-law, Patricia Peavy, of Ragley, Louisiana.
