After battling Parkinson's Disease for 20 years, James Richard Whitehead completed his life's journey on July 1, 2020 at the age of 76. He was born October 3, 1943 to A.C. and Syble Whitehead. Richard was a long-time resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. He took pride in teaching Cardiopulmonary Science at LSU Health Science Center for 20+ years, retiring in 2005. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur Cleo Whitehead and Syble Dutton Whitehead and brother, Larry Whitehead.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 36 years Karola Whitehead; two children: son, Benjamin King and wife Carmen; daughter, Bridget Boyer and husband Maverick; one granddaughter: Sophie King; and a number of other relatives.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date for close friends and family.
